Thanks to all who responded. The following were suggested: New Grolier Student Encyclopedia (print is larger in this) Jr. Britannica (not many illustrations) Young Students Learning Library by Weekly Reader World Book (One librarian said these articles start on an easy level and progress to more difficult levels as the article continues.) (It was also stated that this was the easiest of the basic encyclopedias.) Most said they used Golden Book Encyclopedia in print form and First Connections which is the CD Rom version of Golden Book. Some were not as "sold" as others, but agreed this is the best which is available for this level. Judy Westbrook jrwestbrook@juno.com
