Middle Visiting Author

We are 3 middle schools in an eleven school district. We would like to
bring a terrific author for our middle school kids - perhaps someone who
has work in progress, and certainly some one who has published in the past
so our students can read the work to generate the kinds of questions that
come when they want more information. We are in the Chicago area - a North
Shore Suburb. We will pay to bring someone or - best case - someone close
by. Are ther any ideas out there? I just read in one letter that Paulsen
turned a school down - Our students read at a high level - so if your idea
is a streach, send it anyway.
