Hawaii brouhaha

With reference to Bart Kane's decision to outsource his library system's
book selection to B.&T., one unanswered question remains in my mind.  What
kind of library training and job experience has Bart Kane had?  I cannot
imagine any librarian who has ever worked with collection development and
the public over a period of years taking such a step.
