Internet search

With all the talk about libraries being replaced by the Internet since it is
so easy to use and simple to browse, here's a question.  A colleague of mine
was trying to find the following information.  I searched several sources
(Ebsco Host, IAC databases, Electric Library) on the Web with no luck.  The
question: who was the winner of the first amateur bicycle race (sponsored by
Harvard College) and in what year was it held?

I am most interested in finding the answer through Web sources, since I
already know that trivia books, or sports record books may have the answer.
