Again, thanks again to all who replied to my request for ideas for the Noses theme (reading celebration based on the theme: "The BEST place for your nose is in a book). More people have responded and here are a few additional suggestions: Andrea Hynes Graham Elementary School 10024 206th St. East Graham, WA 98338 e-mail: hynes@seanet.com Maybe you could have a contest for who can be the "nosiest." You could even make reference to Harriet the Spy. Perhaps students could write down anyone they spot reading and what they were reading and the one with the longest list wins. Gayle Hodur ghodur@redshift.com How about finding out some information on famous noses, such as Jimmy Durante and Cyrano de Bergerac and Pinnochio? Brian Rountree, Teacher Librarian rountree@mbnet.mb.ca Eastwood Elementary School 453 Princeton Drive phone (204) 677-6142 Thompson, Manitoba fax (204) 677-6176 R8N 1W8 Canada I missed your original message, but loved reading the responses! I've done "Noses in Folktales" for several years using the following: Too much nose by Zemach The nose tree by Hutton A tale of two tengu by McCoy Caryn Werlin - Librarian - Bridge School Werlin@sch.ci.lexington.ma.us What if you build on that theme and create a current events bulletin board with the heading "A nose for news"? November should have great news stuff with the election! Yapha Nussbaum Mason Brentwood School - West Campus School Library Media Specialist Los Angeles, CA yapha@aol.com I just found a neat folktale called _The Nose Tree_ by Warwick Hutton. ISBN 0-689-50166-8. Peggy Grobmyer: grobmyp@conway.afsc.k12.ar.us Julia Lee Moore Elementary School 1301 Country Club Rd. Conway, AR 72032 501-450-4830 >
