Hi Folks-- That marvelous master of library murder mysteries, that playwright beyond reproach, that Svengali of sound effects Wayne Rush is at this moment concocting another outrageous, hilarious, and perfectly tasteless episode of "Murder, He Wrote" for the EMAnj conference, to be performed by his stable of library stars on Monday, October 21, 1996. Those of you fortunate to see last year's play, starring Richard Peck as Prof. Melvil Dewey, will be champing at the book to see this year's opus ridiculous, an interactive mystery play where the audience has just as much chance to make fools of themselves as the performers. Why is this news? Well, we need a little bit of help, advice, trivia, and music. We may be adding some standards from the 1940s so we can burst into song at opportune (or inopportune) moments, just like Fred and Ginger, Hope and Crosby, Bogey and Bacall. (All right--I know they didn't sing. Just testing.) I've come up with some good ones (As Time Goes By; Let's Call the Whole Thing Off, etc.), but we sure could use more suggestions. We're also looking for totally tacky fruit and vegetable jokes, ideas for costumes, and other trivia from the 1940s. Poor Wayne is weary trying to top last year's show, so if you have any dumb ideas, we'd sure appreciate them. Got any written music for any of this stuff, and we'd actually be able to play it on the piano maybe. Somehow I don't think my guitar-playing will be appropriate in this play. So HELP! And TIA!
