ANNOUNCEMENT OF VACANCY

ELEMENTARY LIBRARY MEDIA SPECIALIST

POSITION

The Columbus Public Schools are accepting applications for the position of
Elementary Library Media Specialist K-12 for the Department of Library Media
Services.

SELECTION CRITERIA

*  Preference will be given to staff currently under contract with Columbus
            Public Schools
*  Valid Ohio Teaching certificate
*  Masters degree in Library and Information Science or equivalent
*  Ability to interact with parents, children and library media professionals
*  Experienced in long range planning, program implementation and evaluation
*  Has demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with other educators in
designing learning strategies

GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES

*  Develops policies to implement the school library media program
*  Administers the library media center's budget
*  Plans and evaluates the school library media program
*  Works cooperatively with building principal, staff and community to develop
short and long range goals which reflect staff and students needs
*  Provides students and faculty with media services and resources
*  Provides technology leadership to building staff
*  Encourages students to develop skills of self-reliance, inquiry and
self-motivation through activities and programs
*  Assumes an active, responsible role in department, faculty, curriculum and
           special activities
*  Establishes efficient book and resource selection procedures which involves
staff and students and supports schools curriculum and goals
*  Establishes policies which insures equal access to resources by all staff
and students
*  Keeps abreast of related current educational programs and trends in
instructional technology and information access

SALARY

Salary will be in accordance with the teacher salary schedule now in effect or
hereafter adopted by the Board of Education
