Hello LM_NETTERS, Are you required to have any classes visit when you are absent for a period or for a day or more? Or do you limit the number of students coming in on a pass and ask teachers not to schedule classes in the media center in your absence? I am fortunate to have two dedicated, hard working media center assistants (who are not certified teachers or certified librarians) who are now being told by a school administrator that they must accept a class of students (with the classroom teacher present), checkout materials, answer the phones, handle substitute teachers, checkout A/V equipment, reshelve materials, try to resolve computer difficulties, etc., etc. --all of which must be handled in my absence. As a result of this, I am surveying "my colleagues of the internet." I am curious to know if this is a common scenario among high school library media professionals. Thank you in advance for responding. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ David Levin, Media Center Director Rich Central High School Olympia Fields, IL d-levin@govst.edu "The shortest way to do many things is to do one thing at a time." ~~Richard Cecil
