Kathy, It appears that I was very wrong about this. If you saw Judy Gould's Hit posted today it really spells it out. I eat humble pie on this one. I also received this message. Having ANY of the software on more than one computer at a time without express permission of the copyright holder is a technical violation of federal copyright law. Should the SPA (Software Publishers Association) descend on you for a software audit, that "startup stuff" will trigger their counter for a full license of the software. You'd better be able to produce a license for each computer with ANY part of the software loaded. Carol Simpson, author Copyright for School Libraries (Linworth, 1994) So I must be wrong and shall be very busy on monday. I guess I'll have to put lists on the individual computers so I can remember which ones I installed which CD startup on. Is this what everyone else does? Help! Technology will never replace librarians, but librarians who KNOW technology will! Mrs. Jeanette B.
