Dear LM Neters,

Here is the results when I asked you all for feedback on Follett, Winnebago
and Casper as automation programs.

Out of 29 responses: 11 using and loving Follett, 18 using and loving
Winnebago and zero comments on Casper. People said that they were not
familiar with Casper.

Follett comments
:
Pleased with product and service, upgrades, used for 7 yrs. Liked
it, used 6 years. Great relationship with them. Used Winne. and
Follett, could be happy with either, but Follett wins if compare two
catalogs. Follett support staff great. Used for 8 yrs, purchased books
from them,no changes needed to cataloging. 6 yrs used, great support and
upgrading. Does not provide serials capability or authority control and
won't export AV records with proper MARC codes. 12 yrs. used, developed by
librarians, sensitive to needs of school librarians. Easy to use. Love
DOS version but hate MAC version.

Winnebago:
Hands down over Follett. Only used Winne love it, easy. Used 4
yrs, MAC, grades 1-5,easy to use. Love their support, call right back.
Liked format and support. Tech line is excellent, works well on Novell.
Used 6 yrs, customer support great. Easy for students and faculty to use.
Used 10 yrs, great support for non-tech person. Used 12 yrs, students,
teachers and Media specialists satisfied with it. Simple clear screen.
Has user group newsletter. Constantly updating system.

Casper : people just said not familiar with..

Other comments:

"Library Technology Reports" is a publication that is published every 2 years
and it evaluates major automation systems. Did you look at Mandarin? Check
the LM Net archives. (And I had several requests for a hit)

Thank you all for your responses..and I apologize for not getting this
information out sooner! :( Since school has started....well, I don't need
to tell all of you what it is like!! :)

Have a great weekend,
