Our district has paras. conducting 30m min. weekly literature
experiences for grades 1-6. I am not a good resource person
for literature experiences and am hoping others can give me
advice or programs as to what "independent to the classroom"
experiences related to literature might include. Our program
is REAL (Reading Enrichment and Literature).

So far I have paras. read our state book nominees (Golden
Sower) which the kids vote for in the spring. We also do local
learning channel videos titled "Cover to Cover" and a few
others which have names that escape me. We have also tried
some storytimes with titles that may or may not be related to
the classroom. I am willing to put some money into this
program to make it more meaningful. Perhaps ideas related to
an author study would be appropriate. I teach library skills
so don't include those ideas. Please mention what grade level
your ideas might be appropriate for.

Thanks for your help!!

That last idea brings to mind a question of whether any member
of this group has put together a web page or URL bookmarks for
various childrens authors home pages. Please pass along any
info. any of you may have.
