I am interested in how others deal with the problem of the first and second graders who insist that they want to check out Goosebumps and are very far from the skills necessary to actually read them. Last year I let them take out one--partly because some vehemently insisted that an older brother, friend, parent would read it to them, and partly because the earnest desire to appear "cool" with a BOOK in hand seemed to not be all bad. This year my inclination is to just tell first and second graders that they need to wait until they can read them themselves and then check with those who want to check them out. What do the rest of you do? ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jean Townes, Media Specialist townesj@PEAK.ORG Waverly Elementary School Phone: 503-967-4617 Greater Albany Public Schools 425 Columbus Albany, Or 97321 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------
