Hello! If you would like to take part in a project connecting 50 schools from the 50 states? It will include sending 3 e-mail messages to each school, and having your students create 50 simple 8 inch squares of fabric that depict your state. If you are interested...read on! Timeline: Anytime October = via e-mail introduce your class to the other 49 classrooms, including # of kids, # of boys and #of girls. Thiswill allow for some graphing activities. November 1 = e-mai to the other 49 classrooms a description of a holiday tradition that is unique to your area/state. January = send to all classrooms a recipe that is unique to your state, and the reason why you chose the recipe. You might add if any of your kids have eaten it, if they liked it, or not! February = send via snail mail 49 of the quilt blocks, keeping 1 for yourself! This is a simple white muslin block 8 inches square, which when sewn will be about 7 l/2 inches square. Use any washable medium, such as fabric markers, fabric paints, puff paints, applique or even quilting! Most blocks last year were fabric markers.... We need classrooms from these states: Alaska, arizona, colorado, connecticut, delaware, florida, georgia, idaho, iowa, kansas, kentucky, louisiana, maryland, massachusetts, minnesota, missouri, montana, nebraska, nevada, new jersey, new mexico, new york, north carolina, north dakota, ohio, oklahoma, south carolina, south dakota,utah, and vermont.
