Ref: Arab Headgear Meaning

I am referring to the cloth headcovering you see Yasser Arafat in for
example.  It is called a kefieh and/or a gefera.  The question is, does
the pattern have a meaning: is a certain pattern linked to a certain tribe
or clan similar to Scottish tartans?

and just for the record, the G stands for Gibson, a minor clan [in numbers
only, obviously <g>] associated with the Buchanans.
