Exercise equipment at home

Hi,
I've been searching high and low for this and finding nada.  Has anyone found
articles about the bad effects (physical, psychological, or social or
anything else) or the  overall uselessness of home exercise equipment?  A
junior writing a paper on the effect of one particular technology has chosen
this topic.  It sounds great, doesn't it?  Think of all the exercycles
holding laundry!  And the loneliness of the long-distance treadmiller.  But I
haven't found anything good.  Can you save this research paper?
