Adding links in email

Could someone tell me how to create a link within my email message?
For example, if I wanted to share a website on this listserv and I type in
the URL how do I make it a link so that whoever reads it can point to it,
click on it and then it will automatically go to the website?
I notice a number of email messages I read from this listserv includes URLs
in color; and when I click on them I can go directly to that website. .
how do you do that?  PS I am using Microsoft Explorer.
