Dear Netters, I've noticed several queries lately re: video offers from companies we do not recognize. Recently, I've been flooded with requests for purchases from teachers who have received flyers from Teachers Video Company and 100% Educational Videos. In the case of Teacher's Video flyers, I have been able to identify several videos (85% or more) which have been produced by such well-known entities as Discovery, A&E, Biography, etc. After perusing the offers, I checked other suppliers. One of my favorite suppliers is Library Video Company. They offer quality videos from a variety of producers, including the networks. After comparing the videos offered by Teacher's Video to what was available from Library Video, I determined that I could locate all but one video, all at a lower price. In the case of 100% Educational Videos, there is no information as to who is producing these videos. My major question relates to quality. I think 50.00 for an 11 minute video is expensive, especially since I do not know anything about the product. Yes, they offer a no risk return policy, which is always a hassle. No thanks. If you haven't seen the Library Video Co. catalog, you sheuld check it out before purchasing from these "flyer" companies. ;>) Request a catalog from 1-800-843-3620. Do I sound like a sales person? I don't mean to, I'm just tired of all the misinformation and hype. Karen Becknell Media Specialist The Lamphere Schools Madison Heights, MI becknellk@hiller.lamphere.k12.mi.us
