Ref. question HELP needed

Good Day!
I had a 4th grader ask yesterday whether sound travels faster through
brass or wood - and why?  I know they have been studying sound and matter
and recently have been given the job to create a new kind of instrument.

Anyway, we looked up sound in the encyclopedia, used sound books... We
came close to finding what he was looking for, but not quite.

So, If you know where I could look or know if sound travels through brass
or wood faster and why please let me know!
