Kin Platt wrote BIG MAX as well as a sequel, BIG MAX AND THE MYSTERY OF THE MISSING MOOSE. As a young editor, I worked on the latter, and Mr. Platt named a rowboat after me. Such is fame in children's books! Fran Manushkin, ex-editor, current children's book writer
