Hello friends! The technology assistant in our other elementary school in the district just called me with an interesting question. She is a licensed teacher, working as an instructional assistant in the computer lab. It seems that she has developed some training materials and will be teaching some classes this summer on Microsoft Publisher, etc. She has worked very hard on her materials, and has some really good lessons planned. Most of what she's done has been done at home, and she did this because she wanted to, not because she was told to. Today, in a conversation with our District Technology Coordinator, she told him that she had been approached to publish some of her materials. He told her that, because she is an employee of the school system, they own her work and she can't publish it. If she does, the corporation could sue her. She is naturally very upset and called me to see if I knew anything about this. So, naturally I'm turning to the experts! Anyone have any ideas about this? It seems to me that the work is hers, and she can publish it if she wishes with no repercussions. What do you think? Thanks so much for any responses! ************************************************************* Bonnie LaClave Phone 765-436-2333 Library Media Specialist Fax 765-436-2630 Thorntown Elementary 200 Mill Street Thorntown, IN 46071 *************************************************************
