I am beginning my second year at a K-5 school and I inherited an extensive vertical file from the previous LMS. During the past school year, students used books, magazines, CD-ROMs and the Internet for their various research projects. The vertical file was the never used. Should I throw everything out and start my own file? Are CD-ROMS and the Internet replacing vertical files? How important is maintaining a vertical file at the elementary level? Thanks for your help.
