suspense books

Hi Everyone!

I am a first year librarian in a middle school grades 6 to 8 and after one
week I already have a question for this all-knowing group!  A teacher asked
the other day what kind of horror/suspense books are available other than the
Stine books for those kids that read at a level lower than 6th graders (and
find Goosebumps to silly to read) and books for kids who read at a higher
level than the 8th graders.  I've had a lot of kids check out King and
Crichton, and I know about Pike.  Who else is there or what else would you
suggest?
