Since several people submitted similar ideas for keeping their yearly wish lists I have summarized the ideas below: Keep a running data base on your computer. You can add any fields you want and can easily prioritze the list. At the touch of a key it ready to print should a windfall come your way. "It has proven to be handy to be able to tell the principal 'I have 785 titles on the Consideration List' when she starts talking about money problems." (Of all the responses, this was the most common.) Keep a couple of sheets of paper on your bulletin board with the columns: books, av/software, equipment, other. Each time you think of something jot it down and later look up the prices. Your list is then ready when your principal wants to talk budget. "I use Titlewave from Follett. It is a CD-ROM format catalog. It allows you maintain running lists of book, software and A/V titles. If the title you are interested in appears in their catalog, the CD also show you a screen including biblio data, a plot synopsis, sources where the work was reviewed, etc. It allows you to set purchase priorities and edit lists. Also, you can import and export the lists via a floppy which allows you to work on your lists both at home and at school. The program will also accept original biblio entries if the book you want is not listed on the CD-ROM catalog." (You can get the Titelwave CD free from Follett salesperson.) Keep all those bits and pieces of paper with titles on them that you collect throughout the year and send the whole lot to Follett to their typing service. They do wonders with your mish mash! Then go through their typed list and make your final selections. (Other vendors also offer free typing service.) Xerox and highlight the titles you want from your professional journals every month. Keep a "fiction" folder, a "nonfiction" folder, an "AV" folder, and a "misc." folder. Add all those other bits and pieces of paper that you collect to the folders. At the end of the year you can easily review the contents of each title and prioritze your list. I hope this information is helpful to those of you looking for a new way to keep your wish lists. Thanks to all of you to replied to my plea for ideas! =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to: listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write either: 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET or 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST For more help see LM_NET On The Web: http://ericir.syr.edu/lm_net/ =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
