Cataloging Computer Software

Dear LM-Net Friends,

I would like to catalog our elementary school's computer software
collection, especially the CD-ROM's by using the Athena library software.
Athena provides in the Help section an example of MARC records for
computer software.  I would like to set up a template in Athena to
catalog and inventory our CD-ROM collection.  Has anyone cataloged
computer software and can suggest what information really needs to listed
in each field, etc.?  Or can anyone recommend a cataloging resource that
covers CD-ROM computer software?  I would appreciate your
assistance...before I hand out the software to the classroom teachers.  I
would like to bar code the CD-ROM jewel cases and sign out the software
to each teacher. Hopefully, then we will have an exact record of who has
what!
