I am having trouble in just one school of the three that I supervise -- we
hired a new library aide last year. He has missed work frequently, failed
to complete work that I've told him and shown him how to do, left work
early, failed to show up -- lots of excuses. It is causing problems, the
most recent of which is now I am getting blamed for "problems in
communicating" by the building principal. I don't know what to do -- I
have documented, I have talked, I have basically held his hand through
tasks, and, admittedly, I have done his work for him just to get it done.
He unfortunately also is one of the district's coaches, so I think I'm
stuck. Seemed very good, very motivated when we hired him and I was
tickled to have the kids see a male figure in what has been traditionally a
female job. Any suggestions? It's starting to cause real problems with
staff in that building, especially the principal, who hasn't been real
supportive of library programming anyways.

Thanks.
