TARGET: Read aloud on friendship for 6th grade

I need some ideas for read-alouds on the topic of friendship for 6th
graders.  We recently added 6th grade to our Middle School so I'm not up
on a lot of things.  Would "Freak, the Mighty" be appropriate?

Any good ideas would be much appreciated.  I'll post a hit if I get some
ideas.  TIA.
