TARGET: Follett Patron Cards

Do any of you still use patron cards?  I used mine for the sole reason that
it was easy to globally update by scanning them with the PHd for homeroom
changes, since each student changes homeroom each year (approx. 980 students
in our school).  I know you can globally edit without using the PHd and
patron cards, but I would have to go into each patron's record and change the
teacher's name to something like "x", then globally edit the changes based on
homeroom teacher.  I'm not sure this is easier than keeping patron cards.
 Any opinions would be appreciated.
