ELEM: apples, spiders, bats

Dear LM_Netters,
  Welcome back to a new start! Now I can do all the things I had no
time for last year ;)
  My teachers are already coming to me for new ideas for old subjects.
We are considered a "mature" faculty but are always seeking
inspiration wherever we can. The first/second grade teachers use the
theme of apples for September and bats and spiders instead of
Halloween (some local religious opposition to usual Halloween themes).
Any creative ideas for this level, either integrating the computer or
not, that you would be willing to share?
  TIA If there is enough interest I will post a hit.
