GEN: Accession book?

Hi everyone. First time user so please excuse any mistakes. Our district
automated 2 years ago-all levels. At a recent meeting we discussed
whether or not we should still use the paper accession book and shelf
list cards or just put our total trust in the computer. It's hard giving
up that paper life-line. Also it appears that each of us has been using
a different numbering system for our accession records. What do you do?
Any suggestions to save "unnecessary steps" would be great.
