Hi, I am new to this WEB site and I am new to Library work. I was asked to take total control of our small school (150 students---pre-K through 8th grade) library. I had no idea it was this much work. But I am excited about it! Here is my main question right now. Is there a user friendly software to type up all of my subject-author-title-shelf list cards as well as the book card and spine labels?? I am not use to working in DOS. I have The Librarian's Helper on a trial basis, but it seems like it has quite a few glitches. I would prefer a WINDOWS program. And I am totally unfamiliar with a dot-matrix printer. I do see in the library company catalogues that they do carry a couple products for a laser printer. Does anyone have any input on this? My husband just went out and purchased OFFICE 97 which includes something called ACCESS. Could I put the information all on here and have it print out for me? Rather than typing individually, the 67 books I have here before me, I chose to send it to a company that will send me a kit for each one. However, this is expensive!! In this day of modern technology, I have to believe that there is a way to punch in all the information only once! As you all know, I have to get moving on this...there's alot more to do! Thank you for your consideration. Patti Meyer, Library Volunteer Mater Christi Catholic School, North Riverside, IL.
