Tech Help: a moaning Power Mac

The LMNet techies were so helpful with my sticky CD-ROM that my Ed.
Assistant has asked for your opinions regarding the problem of our moaning
PowerMac.  Sometimes we think it came from a "GooseBumps" or Three
Investigators" book.
We have 3 computers for student "use" in our library. The newest and most
powerful (Power Mac 5260/120 model #M3457)  moans almost constantly when
there is a CD in the CD drive.  We can remove the CD and put it one of the
other two computers and they are almost silent in comparison.  The moaning
Mac does not always moan, sometimes(but not often) it is quiet for days at
a time. It doesn't seem to matter which disk is in use. Some staff have
suggested that the problem is that up until this fall the barcodes have
been placed on the disks.  However, other LM Spec. have told me that they
put barcodes on disks with no problem.
There are other computers in the building and sometimes they moan but none
are as invasive, loud or consistent as this one.  This one moans even if
there is no barcode on the disk. I have asked that for all new disks the
barcodes be placed on the case and the # be written on the disk but that
doesn't seem to help this unit. It was sent back to the supplier while it
was on warranty, and they said they could find nothing wrong with it. We
had the city code enforcement officer come in 2 weeks ago and take a
decibel reading which was 52-58 decibels at 3 feet.

hints,?  suggestions?  I'm open to just about anything though I don't think
I can afford to replace it.
