I am learning, but can't say I'm much of an expert, so I have a tech question for those who are ahead of me. Our district is being networked with a WAN and Novell Netware. I want to install WIN NT on the library servers at the individual schools. These are my reasons: 1. the district has no in-house support for Netware. We must call outside help if we have problems. 2. I am taking training on WIN NT and as are two of my clerks, so we will be able to fix our own messes right away. 3. It appears to be easy to tell the school server to point to the card catalog, encyclopedia, and SIRS that are installed on the NT library server, so every class can have access to those resources. 4. I don't think the library program works well on the school server. Too many people going in and out when we need to to do administrative work. Is any of this VALID? Right now there is sympathy for this plan, but, at the same time, others are investigating its soundness from their points of view. Thanks for your help, Susan Mackey District Librarian, Rio Linda Union School District, Sacramento, CA iluvlib@ns.net =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= To quit LM_NET (or set NOMAIL or DIGEST), Send an email message to listserv@listserv.syr.edu In the message write EITHER 1) SIGNOFF LM_NET 2) SET LM_NET NOMAIL or 3) SET LM_NET DIGEST NOTE: Please allow time for confirmation from Listserv.
