Maryland gives 3rd and 5th graders a performance test each year as a way to measure school improvement. Most of the test requires well written answers including a topic sentence, supporting details and a conclusion. Our girls do SO much better on this test than the boys. Does anyone have have any suggestions for helping boys with their writing skills? Do you know of any studies comparing elementary boys and girls and writing ability? Are there any gender-related web sites that you know of? Thanks for your help.
