ANNOUNCEMENT Due to a change in the university calendar, I am now ready to release informati on about the 29th Annual Children's Literature Festival Central Missouri State University, Warrensburg, MO Dates: March 23-25, 1997 Authors and Illustrators Participating: C. S. Adler, William T. Anderson, Sand y Asher, Mary Jane Auch, Candy Dawson Boyd, Clyde Robert Bulla, Patricia Calver t, Joan Carris, Shirley Climo, Malka Drucker, Jan Greenberg, Vicki Grove, Mary Downing Hahn, Cheryl Harness, David Harrison, Patricia Hermes, Constance Hiser, Isabelle Holland, Dean Hughes, Constance Levy, Joseph M. Marshall III, David M elton, Carolyn Reeder, Barbara Robinson, Ivy Ruckman, Pamela Service, G. Clifto n Wisler, and June Rae Wood. Adults will have the opportunity for informal conversation on Sunday afternoon and a dinner with G. Clifton Wisler as the speaker that evening. Children, grades 4-8, will attend on Monday or Tuesday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., to me eet authors of their choice. Adults may attend these children/author sessions. Cheryl Harness will present an exhibit of her original work in the University G allery during the weekend. Registration fees: Children: $3.50; Adults: $15.00. Rooms and meals extra. extra. (This conference will not have sessions FOR children. Writer, SANDY ASHER, will co- direct this workshop. It is jointly sponsored by the Midwest Society of Childr en's Book Writers and Illustrators. ISABELLE HOLLAND will open the conference with a speech at dinner on Frida y evening, March 21. Sessions for beginning and experienced writers will conti nue during the entire day of Saturday, March 22. Presenters will include STEPH EN ROXBURGH, Editor, Front Street Books; JOAN CARRIS; PATRICIA HERMES; JAN GREE NBURG, SANDY ASHER, CHERYL HARNESS, and others. NOTE from Phil Sadler: To dispell rumors and for your information: After 34 years of teaching Children's Literature at CMS, I am scheduled to retire at the end of this semester, but I do plan to continue at CMS (on a par t-time basis) to plan festivals. The 30th festival is scheduled for March 19-2 1, 1998.
