LM_NETTERS, This conversation about compiling internet resources is very interesting. Many thanks to Dale Copps for bringing it to the forefront. There is a listserv that deals with actually cataloging (i.e. making MARC records) internet sites. The listserv is called INTERCAT and is part of an OCLC instigated project to get web sites cataloged. I don't think that is what is being discussed here (although it's pretty interesting in and of itself!) however, there was a posting which I thought was relevant to Dale's topic. At ALA mid-winter there is a meeting of the Computer Files Discussion Group, Saturday, Feb.15. The topic of conversation will be the handling of internet resources,"is the virtual library being treated like a vertical file, or are resources selected, cataloged, monitored and withdrawn." This discussion group is part of ALCTS but the topic looks general enough for non-catalogers. If someone does make it to this discussion, I hope you will post any useful remarks for the rest of us.
