ELEM: Sendak's Fly By Night

I've had a teacher bring this book to my attention (as well as to the
principal's attention). They feel it is not appropriate for my grades 2-4
school (because of the illustrations). While they haven't filed a formal
complaint, they have requested I keep it in my desk. Has anyone had a similar
problem? Any suggestions or input? Please reply to my school or personal
