                                EDUCATION CONSULTANT
                     INSTRUCTIONAL TECHNOLOGY

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction; Division for Libraries and
Community Learning: Instructional Media and Technology; Madison.

Start between $42,545 and $51,031 annually depending upon
qualifications.  A six month probationary period is required.  JOB DUTIES:
Provide statewide leadership in the integration of technology into PK-12
curriculum and educational programs. Participate in teacher preparation
program reviews. Develop, facilitate and provide staff development
opportunities through conferences and workshops. Coordinate participation
in distance education programs. Lead planning efforts and represent DPI
with schools, professional groups and educational agencies. Develop data
bases, Internet site lists and other resources to assist schools with the
integration of technology into education and learning. Well qualified
candidates will have substantial elementary or secondary
school teaching experience complimented by several years
direct and applied experience with a wide range of relevant
contemporary Instructional Technology tools.

KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:  PK-12 curriculum and instructional design;
technology use in instructional programs; federal and state educational
technology initiatives; Wisconsin educational standards and requirements;
principles of information literacy; school library media programs; distance
education and technology planning processes; effective oral and written
communication skills. Apply with a letter of application, resume, and brief

telecommunications, compressed video, satellite television and other
distance education programs, 3) coursework in curriculum development
and implementation, information literacy and school library media programs
4) coursework in instructional technology, telecommunications, and
information technology, 5) policy development related to information
technology, internet and instructional technology use and access, 6)
instructional technology program review, and 7) leadership with
professional organizations to: DPI; Bureau for Human Resource Services:

PAY INFORMATION

Pay rates quoted in this announcement are approximate.  Wisconsin Civil
Service pay is based on  an official hourly rate.

TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates must have sufficient training and experience to demonstrate
that the skills and knowledge necessary to perform the tasks upon
appointment have been acquired.  For some positions, minimum training,
experience or licensure requirements are specified.  When no minimum
qualifications are stated, prospective candidates should evaluate their own
training and experience in relationship to the tasks to be performed and
knowledge required upon appointment, prior to applying.

PROBATION

All new civil service employes serve a six-month probationary period to
provide the employe with additional exposure to the new job.
