Middle School vs Junior High

My principal has asked me to inquire about the set up of other school
systems. I think there has been some preliminary talk of changing our set
up. We have a 1-6 elementary, 78 Junior high and 9-12 high school.
He is interested in a system that has changed to a 1-4 or 5 with a
5-6-7-8, or a 1-5 with a 6-7-8-. If you have done this. What are the
negatives, if any and what is the main positive result. Any help will be
appreciated.
