Many thanks for all the replies. Here is a summary: Most replied that the actual expression is "In like Flynn" as in Erroll Flynn--particulary in reference to his sexual prowess. Several replied that it referred to anyone who would not miss an opportunity to seduce a lady. Now, however, it refers to someone always ready to take advantage fo a situation. A lone reply referred to a reference Who put the butter in butterfly by David Feldman, 1989 that suggested that Flynn was Ed Flynn, head of the democartic party machine in NYC in the 1940's. Flynn evidently could take care of those people he favored. Another suggestin referred to the 1967 James Coburn spy movie that was the origin of the change from Flynn to Flynt. Still another suggested that perhaps it had something to do with an advertisement for lighters written by Dr. Seuss in his pre Green Eggs and Ham days. Fascinating!! Many thanks -- Kathy Dvorchak
