I edit a column in Media Spectrum (quarterly publication of MAME). the
column, Center for the Book, is intended to provide media specialists at
all levels with practical ideas for using books with students.

As I am now retired, I'm not out there generating projects so I'm asking
your help in locating resources for future issues, including the one going
to publication in March. If you've done something, are doing something or
know of someone who is doing something, please email me directly at:
jmateer@edcen.ehhs.cmich.edu.

Although I've used a broad scope of features, one of the most valuable is
the use of trade books as a take off to access information skills. the
door is open, however. If you or a teacher has done something with poems
in Falling Up, that's fine too.

Even if you are not a member of MAME, you will receive a copy of your
article. Although those of us in K-12 are not in the publish or perish
business, this is a good way to promote your program and district, as well
as add to your resume.

College students are welcome to contribute projects they've created.

I do reserve the right to determine suitability so contact me first with
your idea. If the idea of doing the actual writing scares you, I'm
willing to either help or take your outline and do the writing for you.

Looking forward to hearing about lots of neat things I know are happening
out there.

Jeanette Mateer
