The book A Separate Battle: Women and the Civil War by Ina Chang = (Dutton, c1991) is a wonderful resource about the contribution women = made during the Civil War. Chapter 4, entitled "Soldiers and Spies" = mentions several women who posed as male soldiers. It gives an account = of Sarah Edmonds, a Northerner, who posed as Franklin Thompson. On p. = 55 it says, "On her second day behind rebel lines, Edmonds traded jobs = with a slave who fetched water for the soldiers." However, I don't see = any mention of Molly Bean. Hope this helps!
