ELEM: Making a big book

Our third grade teachers have assigned groups of students to make big
books.  These books are in board book format, i.e. in addition to the front
and back covers, each "page" is also made out of poster board.  Our problem
is in trying to figure out how to put the books together. Any suggestions
out there?  The eventual goal is to put the books in the library to be
circulated, so the "binding" would need to be substantial enough to hold up
to this type treatment.
