famous americans and their ethnic backgrounds

I had a teacher ask for a list of famous americans (sports figures,
movie stars, musicians, etc) with their ethnic/origin  backgrounds (i.e.,
irish-american; african american; german background etc.).  I looked
in many of my resources (almanacs, encyclopedias, etc)  but could
find no ready-made list.  I know I can construct one myself from a
variety of sources, but I thought I remembered seeing a list
somewhere.  Any ideas?  Please respond to me directly.
