Many thanks to those who responded and helped with this question. I would say that most respondents preferred dividing the collection by a 2 to 1 margin. Ease of locating and the suitability of materials were the reasons most often cited. No one saw any merit in two barcode runs, unless you wanted to split the collection back up later. In regards to this, the barcoding will be done as follows. The secondary collection will begin with the even numbered barcodes, ie CAJ00001, CAJ00002, CAJ02001, etc, while the juvenile will begin with odd numbered thousands, ie CAJ01001 and so on. This will enable identification by barcode number in the same barcode run. I thought it was interesting. Angus G.
