I think that Jan Buchanan's book would be a good jumping off place for you to start. Our district of 10 elementary schools is now 100% pretty much, a process which has been in evolution for some four years. I could give you some general advice but I have found that each school is very diffiferent, esp. in the make-up of the faculty, contract under which teachers work, attitudes, etc. I think that the most important fact for you to consider now is how much this principal is really committed to this concept and then work with him/her to decide how to best approach this politically within the school. The way it worked out for me was not the way other schools did it in my district. They went 100% immediately; I have been phasing it in over the last few years. There are problems inherent with this method but my hunch is that it makes the transition a bit smoother. Feel free to post more specific questions to the group when you are further down the road.
