Dear Group: I have been asked to address the Internet planning committee of a neighboring school district regarding planning and implementing distrcit wide Internet access. We will be having a round table discussion. Having just completed year one of having my entire school wired directly to the Internet I have a lot to say. Can you add to my list of "Hot Topics" to consider and discuss? 1. AUP (Acceptable Use Policy) 2. Inservicing teachers 3. Training students 4. Personal use of e-mail 5. Should students have e-mail accounts? 6. Filtering software 7. Web pages - who, what, how, purpose, links etc. 8. Guided use vrs. Independent use (students) 9. Validity of information -- evaluate, evaluate, evaluate! 10. Controlling the beast - I love accessing information through the 'Net, but people (students and teachers) can be obsessed and not want to look at another source, Sound familiar? Are librarians the only ones that think this way? Any feedback would be appreciated. Gail Gail M.
