GEN: Great movie for librarians!

LM_NETers,

I happened to watch this "oldies" movie the other night and knew other
librarians would enjoy it.  It is Hollywood's version of the first encounter
between a librarian and <<<The Computer>>>!  Katharine Hepburn is in charge
of the "Reference Department" of a large TV station when Spencer Tracy comes
to install an "EMIRAC" computer.

The TV Guide listing (which follows) gave little hint as to the real story,
but watch for it!  It was shown on the cable channel American Movie Classics
(AMC).

"Desk Set" *** (1957, Comedy)  Spencer Tracy, Katharine Hepburn.  An
efficiency expert and a TV executive lock horns.
