Hi all,

I know there are no silly questions, but as I am a recent MLS-school media
graduate and new to the education field, something has me stumped. As I am
pursuing my search for the "perfect job" (I have been told that no such thing
exists!), I have seen many, many advertisements for library media specialists
(I'm looking at elementary level). In these ads, after the LMS title, in
parentheses it is sometimes followed by any thing from (0.2) to (0.8). I
_think_ this means these are not full-time positions (which I do not want)
but what's the difference between (0.2) and (0.8)? Do some positions still
offer benefits while others don't? Does a (0.8) position offer more hours
than a (.02) one? How many hours per week (or classes per week) does each
number stand for?

Also, I've seen (2.0) after the LMS title as well. Does this mean that there
are 2 positions available? (This is what I'm assuming but am fast learning
not to assume anything - and this practice of using number/decimals after a
job posting is limited to the education field only.)

Any advice would be appreciated! Thanks in advance for helping a "newbie"
(as I have been affectionately called by several members of this wonderful
group!).
