Thanks to the two or three people who posted messages replying to my request for summer reading for AP History. We've decided to go with Boorstin's _The Americans_(the second volume) since that covers the time period in question. Besides for that suggestion, I also got this one: How about Alan Eckert's books including the Frontiersman, The Dark and Bloody River and many other titles that I can't remember here at home. They are well researched and exciting reading. John Jakes has some good novels and so does Ann Rinaldi for those who need or appreciate an easier read. Oh yes, Scot O'Dell is another author of historical fiction who did a good job with his research.
