I just finished reading Ann Michael's Fugitive Pieces. It is a moving and beautifully written book. The language (AM is a poet) is so rich. I wanted to use a highlighter, but my mother taught me to NEVER write in books! I only read a few pages at a time, so I could enjoy it longer. This is a novel about a young boy rescued from Poland just before WWII. As he grows up with his rescuer, he attempts to deal with his deep scars. How he does that and who he meets form the framework for this book. I always give away books that I buy to read, but I can't part with this one, and I know that I will read it again and again.
